My hobbies are reading, gardening and travelling in Europe. I read the classics, history and politics, with an occasional foray into modern literature. I have lots of time to spare so am a regular visitor to the B&N Bookclubs, where I have been a contributor since 2003. Queen of my imaginary realm, I hold court with literary royalty- Dame Agatha Christie and Baroness P.D.James. I consort with brooding loners and detectives like Jack Reacher, Alan Banks, and Harry Bosch. Outside my realm, and to support my royal habits, I play the violin compositions of musical giants like Bach, Brahms and Beethoven.

Born in the last half of the last century in The City By The Golden Gate ( although I never actually lived there ) - I am now around about 51 & 1/2 years young ( although my body has been trying to tell me that it's actually the other way around )^^^ From a young age, I have always possessed a keen appreciation for all manner of printed material - including books, comic books, magazines, newspapers, even the backs of cereal boxes, as the years wore on, however, I did tend to become less of an avid reader, becoming more of an avid "watcher" ( and "listener" )...Partly on account of TV addiction ( and now, DVD and Internet Dependence ) ^^^ I like to have music on almost all the time - mostly Classical Music, although I also had a love affair with Jazz going on for many years - and, when I get the opportunity, I like to listen to Celtic Music ( as heard, for instance, on NPR's "Thistle And Shamrock" program ) ^^^ I'm very much a homebody ( at least, much of the time ) ^^^

I am Linda from Central Virginia. I have been reading on B&N for a very long time and love it. I worked twenty eight yrs as a lpn in a mentally challaged center giving medications and treatments. I have been retired for almost five years due to a bad knee. I read and read more, all the time. It seems I try to fulfill my need to read any kind of book that I can get my hands on. I have four grown children that are married and live away from home. While raising them, I didnt read as much but now I am trying to make up for not reading as vividly as I do now. I love Jane Austen. All of her novels are special.I love all of Jodi Picoult books. I believe 19 minutes is my all time favorite. I love Paulo Coelho books also. They so inspire me. Water for elephants by Sarah Gruen and Many splendid Suns and the history of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd are my top favorites.
